SAFE or NOT has been developed by Joy Mondal. It has been in development since 2021.
The workflow of quantifying photos of urban spaces using AI was developed by Joy through tutoring workshops at Digital Futures 2021 and CEPT University, Ahmedabad (SWS 2022). Additionally, the workflow of quantifying subjective opinion and training AI with data was developed through tutoring workshops at Chinese University in Hong Kong (CAADRIA 2021) and University of Novi Sad, Serbia (eCAADe 2021).
Joy received DxD Sanskriti Fellowship in 2023 to further develop SAFE or NOT. In 2024, the outcome of the work was exhibited at Alliance Française de Delhi.
